The concert of the State Youth Orchestra of Armenia with the laureates of the WFIMC in the framework of the 60th General Assembly of the World Federation of International Music Competition was held on June 16 at the Aram Khachaturian Concert Hall. The orchestra gave a joint concert with such soloists as Barnabas Kelemen (violin), Katalin Kokas (viola), Georgy Tchaidze (piano) and Ariunbaatar Ganbaatar (baritone). The repertoire of the concert included the chamber piece “Pavane” composed by Eduard Hayrapetyan, Concerto for violin, viola and orchestra by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, fragments from the Piano concerto No 1 by Pyotr Tchaikovsky, Figaro’s aria from the “Barber of Seville” by Gioachino Rossini, Yeletsky’s aria from the opera “The Queen of Spades”, Prelude from the opera “Pagliacci” by Ruggero Leoncavallo.
The concert was conducted by the artistic director and principal conductor of the State Youth Orchestra of Armenia, Sergey Smbatyan. He said that if 3 years ago they were proud to tell about their membership with the World Federation of International Music Competitions, then today they proudly emphasize that this great musical family has visited Armenia.
The concert evening was attended by the delegates of the 60th General Assembly of the World Federation of International Music Competitions.
The jubilee General Assembly of the World Federation of International Music Competitions in Yerevan has been organized under the high patronage of the Spouse of the President of RA, Rita Sargsyan, with the support of the Ministry of Culture of RA and with an invitation of the Aram Khachaturian International Competition.
